I AM LOWKEY addicted to car raffles. In the summertime, in Ocean City, Maryland, there’s always a cool car being raffled off, parked out on the boardwalk. I think it’s for the Lions Club, they’re good, right? I don’t even care, I’m not gonna lie, usually by the time I get to that end of the boardwalk, it’s the height of summer, I’ve enjoyed more than my fair share of Heinekens and my judgment is legit impaired. Most charitably I could be described as lacking in certain critical analytical thinking attributes, so what the hell, I buy ten bucks worth of raffle tickets and write my name and phone number on ’em. I don’t think real hard about getting in on the action, but I do wonder how many people are buying a hunski worth of tickets, or a grand, or more? It’s not totally astronomical, like the lottery, which is supposedly the same odds as getting hit by lightning, twice, but there’s people who win the lottery and there’s people who have been hit by lightning twice, and more, even. Plus there’s people who have been hit by lightning AND won the goddamn lottery. So if they sell, what, a hundred thousand dollars worth of tickets, you could improve your odds by dropping ten grand, see? See how that approach makes sense?

Charity seems to be the angle for the stuff I get in the mail from the Dream Giveaway raffles, each drawing attached to a different Cause. The 4KIDS one seems OK? I Googled it and checked the NEWS tab, I didn’t go more than a page deep, but it seems alright.
